Whether it's volcano adventures, swimming with dolphins, astronomical observations, or stargazing, the Big Island offers a uniquely different experience.

Travel Tips

• Volcanic Island is vast; it is recommended to rent a car for travel as public transportation is extremely inconvenient.

• Volcanic Island has two main airports: Hilo Airport and Kona Airport, with common accommodations arranged in both locations.

• Volcanic activity can change at any time. Before entering the park, it is advisable to check the latest announcements on the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park official website, as some areas may be temporarily closed for safety reasons.

• When visiting the crater, it is recommended to bring a mask. The concentration of gases around the crater is high, which is especially important for visitors with sensitive respiratory tracts.

• For climbing Mauna Kea, it is recommended to acclimatize to the high altitude at the visitor center at the foot of the mountain before setting off. Altitude sickness should not be ignored.

• Night dolphin swimming tours should be booked in advance. Spots are limited during peak season, making same-day purchase difficult.

• To get to Volcanic Island from Oahu, you need to fly. It is recommended to plan at least a three-night itinerary for Volcanic Island alone.
