1. What is the booking process?
Please confirm availability with customer service before booking. After you pay the tour fee online and complete your personal information, we will send you a booking confirmation email within 1-2 business days after confirming availability. Once you receive the confirmation email, you can start booking your round-trip transportation to the departure city and hotel accommodation.
2. Is there a minimum number of participants required for the tour?
This tour requires a minimum of 4 participants. During the summer (July-September), a minimum of 2 participants is required.
3. What personal information do I need to provide for booking?
Please provide the following personal information: Name / Gender / Date of Birth / Nationality / Passport Number / Email / Mobile Phone Number
4. Can the tour guide pick me up from my hotel?
Yes, you can. Please indicate this in the order remarks after booking, and customer service will confirm the feasibility and any additional costs.
5. What is the size of the tour group?
A maximum of 8 people (excluding the driver). We usually use a 9-seater business van.
6. Will there be a tour guide explaining at the attractions?
The Highlands are mainly natural landscapes, and the driver/guide will provide simple explanations.
7. Can minors join the tour alone?
We apologize, but minors must be accompanied by at least one adult to join the tour. We cannot accept bookings from unaccompanied minors.
8. Can I join midway or leave the tour early?
If you need to join midway or leave early, you will still need to pay the full tour fee (except for multi-location cyclical tours). Please confirm the feasibility with customer service before booking.
9. How are lunch and dinner handled?
Lunch and dinner are at your own expense. Meals are usually arranged at attractions, along the way, or at hotels. You can ask the tour guide for recommendations on dining locations and suggestions.
10. What are the luggage restrictions?
Each traveler can carry one piece of luggage not exceeding 50cm x 40cm x 20cm, as well as a small personal bag. For special requirements, please contact customer service.
11. Can I smoke in the hotel room or in the car?
According to UK law, smoking is prohibited in public places, including hotel rooms and vehicles. Please comply with regulations and strictly refrain from smoking in hotel rooms or vehicles. If caught, you will be subject to a hefty fine or prosecution.
12. Can the travel agency purchase personal travel insurance for me?
Our company is a legitimate travel agency registered in the UK, with UK travel agency company insurance and vehicle operational commercial insurance. However, we cannot purchase personal travel insurance on your behalf. We strongly recommend that you purchase suitable personal travel insurance in your country of residence before departure and fill in correct personal information to ensure a safe and worry-free trip.
13. Can I use a credit card during the trip?
Most merchants in the UK accept international credit cards. UnionPay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and other payment methods are not common in the UK. We recommend carrying an international credit card and some British Pound cash for tips, buying tickets, or daily use. For your safety, please do not carry a large amount of cash.
14. Does this tour have forced shopping?
In the UK, forced shopping tours are illegal. We offer a pure sightseeing tour with no forced shopping arrangements, so you can fully enjoy every moment of your trip.
15. How is accommodation arranged?
Our agency primarily arranges guesthouses in the Highlands or 3-star standard hotels in the Highlands, with hot water and Wi-Fi. Room types available include double beds with private bathrooms, twin beds with private bathrooms, and family rooms (double bed + single bed) with private bathrooms. If 2 people book, twin beds will be prioritized; if not available, a double bed will be arranged. If 3, 5, or 7 people book, one room may be a triple family room. If a single person requests a separate room, an additional single supplement fee will apply. Single travelers are welcome; we will prioritize finding a same-sex roommate for you. If a roommate cannot be found, a single supplement fee will be required. Please understand. Traditional accommodations in the Highlands, whether hotels or guesthouses, are often older buildings with somewhat outdated facilities. Rooms are not large, and beds are relatively small (double beds are 1.3-1.4m wide, single beds are 0.8-0.9m wide), so they cannot be compared to international chain hotels in big cities. Please do not have overly high expectations, but cleanliness and hygiene are guaranteed, with linen changed for each guest. If you feel there's an issue with the sheets or duvet cover, please contact the staff immediately for a change.
16. How to use the bathroom in guesthouses or hotels?
Highland bathrooms often have older facilities. Sink taps are usually separate for hot and cold water, so please be aware of the distinction. Showers can also be different from those in your home country; some switches are outside the bathroom and need to be turned on before use. You can explore how it works after checking in. If you can't get hot water, you can consult the service staff or your guide. We recommend showering early to avoid low water pressure or insufficient hot water later on due to many people showering. Please understand! When showering, please make sure to close the door or curtain tightly to prevent a large amount of water from leaking out, which can cause the bathroom carpet to become wet and may lead to compensation charges in severe cases. When checking out or leaving for the day, always check that the bathroom faucets are turned off to avoid any losses!
17. Can I use kitchen equipment like microwaves and refrigerators?
Guesthouses are private homes, and while we welcome guests, some areas like the kitchen are not open for public use. Please do not use kitchen facilities without permission. We appreciate your mutual respect and understanding. Thank you!
18. Can luggage be carried in the vehicle?
Due to limited luggage space in tour vehicles, please bring small carry-on luggage. Also, accommodation places do not have elevators, so moving luggage up and down can be troublesome, and room space is not large. It is best to store luggage if possible. Each guest's luggage size should be controlled within 26 inches. If you have oversized luggage, please be sure to contact us in advance for approval to avoid boarding delays on the day of the tour due to oversized luggage. On the day of the tour, if a customer carries oversized luggage, they can store it themselves at a hotel or near the train station in Edinburgh. The guide and driver have the right to refuse to carry it on the day of the tour, and our agency will not be responsible for any disputes arising from this.
19. What to do if there are mosquitoes or insects in summer?
During summer high temperatures, the vegetation around the Glenfinnan Viaduct is very lush, and some mosquitoes and insects like to get into visitors' sleeves and clothes. If visitors are not careful or do not swat the insects away, they may carry them to the accommodation. It is important to be aware of this. We recommend wearing long sleeves and long pants to cover your body as much as possible, and avoid venturing into dense grassy areas. You can also purchase mosquito repellent spray. If you find insects in your room, do not panic, contact staff to deal with them, and close windows and doors tightly to prevent insects from flying into the room.
20. Are there discounts for children and seniors?
Since children and seniors also require a seat and a bed, they are charged the same as adults, with no discounts. UK law requires children under 1.35 meters tall to use a child seat when traveling in a car. If you have a child under 1.35 meters, please contact customer service when placing your order, and we will prepare a child seat for you in advance. Please note: This product is not recommended for children under 2 years old. If there are seniors over 65 years old joining the tour, please inform customer service in advance; a "Waiver of Liability" form will need to be signed. Thank you.
21. Can I see the Harry Potter Steam Train?
The Harry Potter Steam Train generally operates from May to October each year. We will try our best to arrange the visit during the train's crossing of the viaduct. However, if the train is suspended due to weather, strikes, traffic, safety, or other circumstances, we will not make alternative arrangements for viewing. We appreciate your understanding!
22. Are there places to eat along the way in the Highlands?
There are towns and service areas along the Highland tour route with many restaurants and supermarkets, making dining convenient. You can pay by card or cash, and choose from a variety of delicious foods, especially excellent seafood, and popular ice cream options.
23. Do I need to prepare tips?
Tipping service staff is a local custom in the UK. For formal dining, 5%-10% of the meal amount is paid. If the service charge is already included in the bill, no additional tip is needed. You do not need to tip for local fast food. We also do not require tips for the accommodation we arrange, but it is advisable to have some cash on hand for unexpected needs.
24. Can the itinerary be changed?
If you choose a shared tour, with a maximum of 8 people per vehicle, the itinerary is fixed and cannot be changed. If you choose a private chartered tour, the itinerary is relatively flexible, and the routes we provide are only for reference. Within reasonable limits of mileage and guide working hours, the itinerary can be changed, but please be sure to communicate with our customer service in advance. Thank you!
25. What is the weather like in the Highlands, and how should I dress?
The Scottish Highlands have complex terrain and a changeable climate, with generally low temperatures throughout the year and frequent rain and wind. We recommend wearing a windproof and warm outer jacket (a waterproof and breathable jacket is most practical) and having rain gear ready. Even in summer, please be prepared for sun protection.
26. Is the travel time long?
The Highlands are a vast area, and the 3-day tour itinerary is relatively tight, with a total driving time of about 5-6 hours per day. However, there are usually attractions every 1-2 hours where you can get off and stretch your legs, so the overall travel experience will not be too strenuous. The Highlands have many winding mountain roads, but the road conditions are generally good and smooth. Please prepare motion sickness medication in advance.
27. Does it get dark early in winter in Scotland?
Due to Scotland's high latitude, from late October to April of the following year, daylight hours are short, with shorter days and longer nights. As it gets dark early, this may affect the viewing of some attractions later in the itinerary. Natural light conditions are beyond our control, and we appreciate your understanding.
28. What are excess mileage and overtime charges?
According to local UK service customs and relevant regulations, our tour guides' working hours are a maximum of 10 hours per day. If overtime occurs, an overtime fee of £50 per hour will be charged. Please rest assured that our tour guides have many years of experience in Highland tours and will reasonably arrange your itinerary to minimize such costs. We also ask for your cooperation with the guide's work during the trip. Thank you!
