Attraction Introduction

Located on Salisbury Plain in England, Stonehenge was built between 4000 and 2000 BC and is one of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments. The ring of megaliths, each nine meters high and weighing over forty tons, stands on the vast grassland, remaining an unsolved mystery in the history of human civilization. Archaeologists generally believe that it was an important site for ancient people to hold religious ceremonies, astronomical observations, and sacrificial activities. Every summer and winter solstice, sunlight shines precisely through the gaps between the stones, showcasing the ancients' astonishing understanding of celestial phenomena and time. Today, Stonehenge is a World Heritage Site, attracting countless tourists to experience its mystery and awe spanning thousands of years.

How to Get There

  • Train:The nearest train station is Salisbury Station, which can be reached by train from London Waterloo in about 1.5 hours.

Travel Tips

General admission tickets do not allow you to walk into the center of Stonehenge, as visitors are primarily required to follow a designated path around the perimeter. If you wish to enter the stone circle for a close-up view, you must book the limited-capacity Stone Circle Experience in advance. The shuttle bus from the visitor center to the stone circle takes about 5–10 minutes, and generally runs every 5 minutes.
