Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Inverness ‣ Lochkaren ‣ Applecross ‣ Hildeger ‣ Geirloch ‣ Plyu ‣ Kristallok Grand Canyon ‣ Alleppe

Begin your Scottish Route 66 journey from Inverness. This is an epic drive, so pack your bags tight. Just make sure there's enough room for your camera. On our first day in Alleppe, we'll traverse the winding North Coast Route 500. Your driver-guide will take you past towering mountains, shimmering lakeshores, and beautiful beaches. Later in the afternoon, we'll arrive at the picturesque port town of Alleppe.

*From November to March, Applecross may be inaccessible due to inclement weather and limited daylight hours.

Applecross — Until the early 20th century, this remote village was only accessible by boat, where you could stop to visit a bar serving delicious seafood.

Ullapool — the largest subsidence area in the Scottish Highlands, known as "Scotland's most beautiful seaside town," and an important port for access to the Outer Hebrides.

Day 2: Alleppe ‣ Adfrek Castle ‣ Kelsi Hill ‣ Dunes ‣ Cersso

Today, the scenery is becoming increasingly beautiful, with many rocks and mountains. As you drive north, your driver-guide will take you to some of Scotland's most stunning sights.

Your itinerary depends on the weather and your guide's expert advice, but you may have the opportunity to venture deep into Smooth Caves, stroll through the ruins of Adfrek Castle, and gaze at the beautiful white sand beaches. You'll stop for lunch in a highland village and spend the evening in Thursor, a small town at the northernmost tip of mainland England.

Ardvreck Castle — The ruins of Ardvreck Castle, built in the 15th century, were once the stronghold of the MacLeods family. The once magnificent castle now consists of only a tower.

Day 3: Point Dunnett ‣ John o' Groats (North End) ‣ Sinclair Castle ‣ Vick ‣ Dunrobin Castle ‣ Donoch ‣ Inverness

Today, you'll have ample time to disembark and explore cozy fishing villages, epic cliffs, and ancient Neolithic sites. Your driver will take you to the northernmost point of mainland Britain, where you may see the Orkney Islands on the horizon.

Gilnegao Castle, perched on a windswept cliff, is your next stop. The location of this ruin is as striking as its history. Stroll along this wild coastline, listening to its chilling tales, before continuing along the epic North Coast Highway 500. Heading south, on your way to Dunrobin Castle, you'll enjoy views of verdant valleys and seascapes. Before driving along the coast and through lands once inhabited by Picts and Vikings, you'll have time to photograph this majestic mansion. In the evening, we return to Inverness.

John o' Groats —The northernmost island in the United Kingdom, known as the "Land's End of Scotland," offers views of the North Sea and is a relatively rare plain area in Scotland.

Dunrobin Castle boasts 189 rooms in the Scottish Gothic style. It is not only the largest castle in the North Highlands, but also one of the oldest continuously inhabited houses in Britain, dating back to the early 1300s.
