Attraction Introduction

Figueres, located in northern Catalonia, Spain, is the birthplace of the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. The city is small, but its popularity as an art travel destination is due to the Dalí Theatre and Museum. The city center is compact, with squares and historical buildings clustered together, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Figueres retains the pace of life of a small Catalan town while also possessing a distinct artistic identity thanks to Dalí, making it a popular day trip destination north of Barcelona.

How to Get There

You can take a train directly from Barcelona Sants to Figueres Vilafant station, which takes about 1 hour. By car, it takes about 1.5 hours via the AP-7 motorway. The city center is compact and can be explored on foot upon arrival.

Travel Tips

Summer temperatures are high, so it's advisable to avoid walking during midday. Most visitors congregate around the Dalí Museum area.
