Attraction Introduction

The Bush Pilots Monument is located on a high point in the Old Town of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, commemorating the pilots who provided vital air links to remote northern communities in the early days. The viewpoint offers a panoramic view of Great Slave Lake, the Old Town, and nearby seaplane activity, making it a great place to learn about local aviation history and enjoy the lakeside scenery.

How to Get There

  • Walking: The monument is located in the Old Town of Yellowknife. Once you reach the vicinity, you can walk up to the viewpoint; please watch your step on the final section as there are stairs.
  • Car or Taxi: You can first head to the Old Town, park your vehicle in an authorized parking area, and then walk to the monument.
  • Public Transport: You can take a city bus or taxi to the Old Town. Please check specific stops and schedules before you travel.

Travel Tips

  • The viewing area is relatively open, and the perceived temperature may drop significantly when it is windy; please prepare windproof and warm clothing.
  • Steps may be covered in snow or ice in winter; it is recommended to wear non-slip shoes, hold onto the railings, and walk slowly.
  • This is also a residential area; please do not occupy private parking spaces or block nearby roads.
  • If you wish to photograph the lake and the old town, pay attention to the light during the day and at dusk; the aurora is subject to weather and natural conditions, and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
