Attraction Introduction

The Palace of Versailles is one of the most magnificent royal palaces in France and a masterpiece of Baroque art. Originally a hunting lodge of Louis XIII, it was later expanded by Louis XIV into a grand palace symbolizing royal power. The most famous feature is the opulent Hall of Mirrors, which witnessed historical moments such as the Treaty of Versailles; the king and queen's bedrooms and art galleries also showcase the splendor of the 17th-century court. Designed by the landscape architect Le Nôtre, the Versailles Gardens are vast, with geometric flowerbeds, fountains, and tree-lined avenues displaying the beauty of typical French gardens. For its architectural, artistic, and historical value, the Palace of Versailles is hailed as a symbol of French royalty and culture.

How to Get There

Available from Paris:

RER C lineIt's about a 10-minute walk to the Versailles Château – Rive Gauche station.
Alternatively, take the train to Versailles Chantiers / Rive Droite station and walk from there.
Group tours are usually driven by a driver-guide for about 40 minutes directly to the destination.
