Attraction Introduction

Rouen, located in Normandy, France, is a historic city with a complete medieval neighborhood. The city is famous for Rouen Cathedral, whose complex Gothic facade was a recurring theme in Monet's paintings. The old town retains its half-timbered buildings and cobblestone streets, exuding a rich historical atmosphere. It is also the site of Joan of Arc's trial and execution, and many memorial sites bear witness to important historical events. The city is of moderate size and well-suited for walking exploration.

How to Get There

You can take a train from Paris Saint-Lazare to Rouen Rive Droite station, which takes about 1.5 hours. The old town is about a 15-minute walk from the city center. You can also drive there via the A13 motorway. The main attractions are concentrated in one area and can be explored on foot.

Travel Tips

The old town's roads are mostly paved with cobblestones, so comfortable shoes are recommended for walking. It gets very crowded during peak season. Church visiting hours may be affected by religious activities.
