1. What is the booking process?
This product requires manual confirmation. After payment is completed and details are submitted, we will verify the tour dates, hotels, airport transfers, and related activities, and send a booking confirmation email. Please do not purchase non-refundable flight tickets or book other non-cancellable services until you receive the official confirmation.
2. Are there minimum group sizes or fixed departure dates?
This product offers tour dates during the aurora season from August to April of the following year, but the supplier does not specify a fixed minimum group size or a maximum number of participants. All dates are subject to secondary confirmation; final availability and arrangements are based on the confirmation email.
3. What information is required at the time of booking?
Please provide the traveler's full name, gender, date of birth, nationality, email address, mobile phone number, and accurate arrival and departure flight details. If you need to rent winter cold-weather gear, please also provide the required sizes.
4. How is the tour fee calculated for solo travelers?
Please select "Single Occupancy" for individual check-ins; the cost is calculated based on the single room rate. This product does not provide a roommate matching service for travelers of the same gender; solo applicants must pay the single room rate.
5. What does the tour fee include?
The tour fee includes 5 days of transportation, 4 nights of hotel accommodation in Yellowknife, a Chinese-speaking tour guide, airport transfers in Yellowknife, a city tour of Yellowknife, 4 nights of aurora viewing, and hot drinks and snacks at designated aurora cabins. From November to March, the rental of winter thermal jackets/pants, gloves, and snow boots is also included. Flight tickets, meals, GST, local tour guide service fees, optional activities, and personal expenses are not included.
6. What is the group size and vehicle type?
This product does not specify a fixed maximum number of participants and does not guarantee small group travel. Vehicles will be arranged according to the number of participants on the day; small vehicles, vans, or tour buses may be used. The actual vehicle type is subject to local operational arrangements.
7. Is airport transfer in Yellowknife provided?
Yes, it is included. On Day 1, we provide pick-up service from Yellowknife Airport (YZF) to the designated hotel, and on Day 5, we provide drop-off service from the hotel to the airport. The meeting point for pick-up is at the polar bear statue near the airport baggage claim area. Staff will be wearing red jackets with a polar bear logo and holding a pick-up sign.
8. Are flight tickets to Yellowknife included?
No, they are not. Travelers must arrange their own flights to and from Yellowknife. For certain designated dates, one-way tickets from Vancouver to Yellowknife or vice versa may be booked separately; availability is limited and must be confirmed with us before booking. The drop-off time on Day 5 will be notified by the tour guide based on flight schedules. If you have connecting transportation, we recommend allowing at least a 3-hour buffer.
9. How many nights of aurora viewing are included?
Aurora viewing is arranged for the first to the fourth nights of the itinerary, providing a total of 4 viewing opportunities. In autumn, the tour typically departs around 22:00 and returns around 02:00 the following day; in winter, it typically departs around 21:00 and returns around 02:00 the following day. Actual times are subject to weather conditions and the tour guide's notification.
10. Is it guaranteed to see the Northern Lights?
No, it cannot be guaranteed. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon influenced by solar activity, weather, cloud cover, and visibility. Although the itinerary includes 4 nights of viewing opportunities, the timing, intensity, or clarity of the aurora cannot be guaranteed. Failure to see the aurora cannot be used as a reason for a refund.
11. What are the differences between autumn and winter aurora arrangements?
From August to the end of November, "chasing" tours are typically arranged, often visiting aurora glass igloos. From December to April, waiting for the aurora inside warm cabins is usually arranged, with coffee, tea, and simple snacks provided. Viewing locations and methods may be adjusted based on weather and operational conditions.
12. How are the Yellowknife city tour and free time arranged?
A city tour of approximately 2 hours is arranged on Day 2, including visits to the Yellowknife Welcome Sign, the Visitor Centre, and the Pilot's Monument, passing through the Old Town. Days 3 and 4 are free for leisure, during which you may visit the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories, the Diamond Centre, Old Town, or local restaurants on your own.
13. What optional activities are available?
In autumn, you may choose to experience ATV tours, Cameron Falls and lakeside tours, Great Slave Lake cruises, or Buffalo Highway tours. In winter, you may choose dog sledding, snowmobiling, or snowshoeing. Each activity has applicable dates, minimum group requirements, and participation restrictions. Choosing an optional activity only indicates a booking request and does not mean a spot has been confirmed.
14. Does the itinerary provide winter cold-weather gear?
Between November and March, hooded thermal jackets and pants, gloves, and snow boots can be rented for free. Sizes and availability are subject to on-site arrangements. Travelers must still prepare their own thermal underwear, thick socks, hats, scarves, and other personal cold-weather gear.
15. What are the other additional costs?
Each traveler must pay an additional 5% Canadian Federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) and a local tour guide service fee of CAD$45 per person for the 5-day/4-night trip. Meals, optional activities, airfare to/from Yellowknife, additional luggage, hotel upgrades, and personal expenses must also be paid for separately. Optional activities usually incur an additional 5% GST; the final amount is subject to the confirmation document.
16. Are meals included in the itinerary?
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are not included. During winter cabin aurora viewing, coffee, tea, and simple snacks are provided, but these do not constitute formal meals. The tour guide will provide dining recommendations based on the day's schedule.
17. How are hotels and room types arranged?
The itinerary includes 4 nights of accommodation in Yellowknife; reference hotels include Nova Inn, Quality Inn, or equivalent. Double rooms typically feature one large bed. Triple and quadruple rooms usually utilize two existing beds in the room; extra beds are not provided. Children share existing beds with adults, and the base tour fee is the same for adults and children. Specific hotels, bed types, floors, and room locations cannot be guaranteed.
18. Is a deposit required for hotel check-in?
Some Canadian hotels may require a valid credit or debit card for guarantee upon check-in and may perform a pre-authorization or collect a security deposit. If there are no additional expenses, the deposit will be refunded in accordance with hotel and card-issuing bank regulations.
19. Are there requirements for luggage and mobility?
Each traveler is limited to one checked bag and one carry-on bag; extra or oversized luggage may incur fees. The itinerary involves extreme cold weather, late-night activities, and walking on snow, ice, and uneven surfaces. Tour vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair lifts or securement devices. Travelers with limited mobility or those requiring wheelchair assistance should contact us before booking to confirm.
20. Will the itinerary be adjusted due to weather? Is it recommended to purchase insurance?
Yes. The tour guide may adjust viewing locations, departure times, the order of the itinerary, or activities based on weather, road conditions, aurora forecasts, flight schedules, and site availability. We recommend that travelers purchase travel insurance that includes coverage for medical care, trip cancellation, flight delays, luggage loss, and outdoor activities in extreme cold.
