How to Get There

  • Driving: You can depart from Florence or Siena, visiting towns and scenic spots along the way; driving is more convenient if you want to see pastoral landscapes from different locations.
  • Train + Bus: You can take a train to Chiusi–Chianciano Terme or Buonconvento, then transfer to a bus to Pienza. Pienza does not have a train station, so please check the daily bus schedule before you set off.
  • Day tour or private car charter: If you do not plan to drive, you can choose tours departing from nearby cities to visit the towns and rural landscapes of the Val d'Orcia.

  • The Val d'Orcia covers a wide area and is not a single attraction; it is recommended to select the towns and photo spots you wish to visit in advance.
  • The colors of the hills and farmland change with the seasons; lush greenery, golden fields, or autumn landscapes depend on the weather and crop growth for that year.
  • When photographing cypress-lined paths and farmland, please park only in permitted areas and do not enter private land or trample on crops.
  • The streets of the small towns and some rural roads are suitable for walking, so comfortable shoes are recommended; if taking public transport, please allow sufficient time for transfers.
