Attraction Introduction

The Tower of London, situated on the banks of the River Thames, is one of the most iconic fortresses and royal buildings in British history. Having served multiple functions simultaneously as a royal palace, prison, armory, and treasury, it has become a crucial window into understanding British political and social changes. Visitors can see the remains of royal residences, ancient walls, historical galleries, and get up close to the British Royal Jewels guarded by the royal guards. With its rich history, complex architectural structure, and compelling narrative, the Tower of London is a core attraction for exploring London's past.

How to Get There

The most convenient way to get there is by taking the subway to Tower Hill station and walking a few minutes; the DLR Tower Gateway station is also nearby. Several bus lines, such as 15, 42, and 78, stop around the attraction. If walking from the Thames, the entrance is easily found by following the riverside signs. Public parking is available nearby, but due to heavy traffic and limited parking in the city center, driving during peak hours is not recommended.

Travel Tips

The Tower of London gets very crowded during peak season, so it's recommended to buy tickets online in advance and visit during the morning opening hours. For photos of the exterior with the Tower Bridge in the background, choose a sunny day or the evening when the light is softer. The tower has many exhibition halls and a complex layout, making it suitable for visitors interested in history and culture; it's also relatively child-friendly.
