18. Does this tour have mandatory shopping?
In the UK and Europe, mandatory shopping tours are illegal. We offer pure leisure tours without any mandatory shopping arrangements, so you can fully enjoy every moment of your trip.
19. Is this tour suitable for children and seniors?
This itinerary involves long journeys, cold environments, and includes multiple snow and outdoor activities such as icebreaker cruises, reindeer sleigh rides, husky sleigh rides, and snowmobiling. The overall temperature is low, and the itinerary pace is quite rich. It is generally recommended for children with good cold tolerance who can follow the team's schedule. Infants under 4 years old are not recommended for snow activities. If traveling with children, parents should assess their child's physical condition and adaptability in advance. Seniors who are in good health and have good mobility can generally participate. If you have cardiovascular disease, respiratory problems, limited mobility, or are not suitable for cold environments, it is recommended to evaluate carefully before booking and consult a doctor.
20. Can children participate in snow activities?
Some snow activities have height, age, or safety requirements for children. For example, ice floating on an icebreaker usually requires a specific height; for snowmobile activities, younger or shorter children usually cannot drive and can only ride in a sled according to on-site regulations. Specific participation depends on the safety regulations of the local activity company on the day.
21. Do I need to prepare my own warm clothing for snow activities?
Yes, you do. Apart from certain activities like snowmobiling, King Crab safaris, and icebreaker ice floating, which provide professional warm gear, other snow activities such as reindeer sleigh rides and husky sleigh rides usually require visitors to prepare or rent their own warm gear. We recommend preparing waterproof and non-slip snow boots, thick down jackets, thermal pants, hats, scarves, gloves, and hand warmers. If the guide determines on-site that your clothing is insufficient to ensure safety, they have the right to refuse your participation in snow activities, and related fees are usually not refunded.
22. Will not participating in optional activities affect the itinerary?
No, it will not affect the basic itinerary. All optional activities are voluntary. If you choose not to participate, the guide will arrange free time for you at the hotel or in a nearby area based on the actual route. However, as it gets dark early and temperatures are low in the Nordic winter, it is recommended to prepare food, warm clothing, and follow the guide's reminders regarding meeting times and safe areas.
23. Is it guaranteed to see the Northern Lights?
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon influenced by various factors such as weather, clouds, solar activity, and light pollution, so sighting cannot be guaranteed. This itinerary will pass through active aurora zones and arrange suitable locations or optional aurora chasing activities, but the final viewing results depend on the natural conditions of the day.
24. Can I upgrade to a glass igloo?
You can upgrade to an Arctic Light Resort glass igloo or Arctic Sky Suite at your own expense, subject to room availability. Due to very high demand for glass igloos in winter, early application is required, and usually, payment for the room is required before confirmation. If the room cannot be confirmed, a refund will be issued. Once confirmed, glass igloo cancellations are subject to strict terms, so please review carefully before booking.
25. What warm clothes should I prepare for December in Northern Europe?
Iceland and Northern Europe are different from what you might be used to; the polar climate is highly variable, especially with many winter storms. When it's windy and rainy in winter, temperatures can drop suddenly to several degrees below zero, so a down jacket is essential. When preparing clothes, prioritize warmth, and ideally, choose items that are also windproof and waterproof. The Nordic region is often windy throughout the year, so wear a hat and scarf to protect your head and neck, and gloves are also a must. Sunglasses or glasses can effectively reduce harm to your eyes from snow glare and strong winds.
Clothing recommendations:
- First layer: Lightweight thermal base layers (thermal underwear); ski quick-drying clothing is also a good option;
- Second layer: Fleece jacket and lightweight down liner jacket;
- Third layer: Down jacket or soft/hard shell waterproof and windproof jacket or ski suit are all suitable. Pay attention to layering for easy adjustment, and bright colors make for better photos.
- Shoes: If possible, prepare outdoor hiking boots (mid to high-top) for effective warmth, waterproofing, slip resistance, and ankle protection.
- Swimsuit: A swimsuit is needed for the Blue Lagoon, and some hotels may have free public hot baths (similar to small hot springs), so be sure to bring one.
26. How much cash should I prepare?
You don't need a lot of cash, just 100-200 Euros per person excluding optional activities. A credit card is essential, as most local shops, restaurants, convenience stores, public transport, and taxis accept credit card payments, including public toilets (if you have a credit card, you don't need cash).
