Specific itinerary
D1: Helsinki ‣ Oulu ‣ Kemi ‣ Haparanda
Depart Helsinki this morning and take the Polar Express to Oulu. Upon arrival, take a bus to Kemi to visit the Snow Castle Exhibition (optional), which includes the Gemstone Exhibition and SnowExperience365. Afterwards, check in at the Haparanda Hotel. Polar Express departure time: 8:24 Helsinki – 14:24 Oulu
D2: Haparanda ‣ Icebreaker ‣ Haparanda (Polar icebreaking experience optional)
After breakfast, depart for the Gulf of Bothnia, a northern Baltic Sea embankment, and embark on the Polar Expeditions Icebreaker ABBA Cruise. Enjoy an ABBA music party on board and a breathtaking three-hour icebreaking experience, where you'll feel the trembling ice beneath your feet. You can also don a warm flotation suit (height must be at least 125cm to float) and experience the unique charm of floating on the icy sea, or try an ice walk. Afterward, drive back to your hotel in Harampada for the night.
*Icebreaker boats must be booked in advance, as seats are limited and available while stocks last.
Day 3: Haparanda ‣ Rovaniemi ‣ Saarisarka
In the morning, we'll depart from our hotel and visit Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. You'll take photos with Santa Claus, cross the Arctic Circle, enjoy delicious food, and shop for souvenirs and postcards. After departing Santa Claus Village, we'll head to Saarisalka. After a short rest and dinner, we'll embark on a nighttime snowmobile tour into the pitch-black forest in search of the Northern Lights. Embrace nature and feel the power of the polar regions in this dark forest.
* Stay in a cabin on the third, fourth and fifth nights of the trip!
Most cabins are suites for 3-8 people, each with multiple rooms, typically for two people. Unlike hotels, the room types are standardized, and the number of standard rooms is limited, so you can't specify a specific room type. We hope you can understand and cooperate with the different room types, but we believe this night's cabin experience will be unforgettable.
* Due to the limited availability of rooms at the Glass House during the winter, you will need to pay in advance but your room cannot be guaranteed. You will be notified of your confirmed room location once your reservation is completed. If you are not able to book before departure, a refund will be arranged.
* Upgrade to a glass house at your own expense: Northern Light Village (Aurora Cabin/Polar Sky Suite) Maximum occupancy: 2 people (Note: After upgrading to a glass house, round-trip transportation between the glass house and the activity area needs to be arranged by the guest.)
Day 4: Saariselka (including reindeer farm, husky sledding and polar snowshoeing at your own expense)
This morning, you'll visit a reindeer farm at the Lapland camp. In the afternoon, you'll enjoy a husky sleigh ride, and in the evening, you'll experience a polar snowshoeing adventure to chase the Northern Lights. First, you'll visit the Reindeer Farm (included), where you'll learn about Sami culture, feed and interact with reindeer up close, and then take a 15-minute reindeer sleigh ride (***only available if snow conditions permit! If the snow is too low, you'll only visit the reindeer farm). Experience Santa Claus's mode of transportation! The reindeer will lead the sleigh, and you'll sit inside to admire the unique polar scenery. Then, you'll join the Husky Safari (optional expense), where you'll be greeted by the breathtaking snowscape as the huskies gallop by. After a short rest and dinner, you'll explore the National Forest Park in the evening, experience a polar snowshoeing adventure (optional expense), and chase the Northern Lights. Then, return to Saariselkä Lodge for your overnight stay.
Day 5: Saarisarka ‣ Kirkenes ‣ Saarisarka (optional king crab tour with lunch)
In the morning, we will depart from Saariskar and head to Kirkenes, a famous king crab fishing destination. Here we will see how the locals catch king crabs. Afterwards, we will go to a restaurant to enjoy fresh king crabs. After the activity, we will return to Saariskar and stay in a local wooden house hotel.
Day 6: Saariselka ‣ Rovaniemi ‣ Helsinki
After checking out in the morning, we'll travel to Rovaniemi and visit the Polar Museum (optional). The museum offers extensive information on the current state of the Arctic region, as well as exhibits on the history, culture, and nature of Lapland. After the tour, we'll board the Polar Train back to Helsinki, where we'll stay overnight in a two-person sleeper train.

Attractions
| SnowExperience365
The concept of Kemi Snow Castle has been continuously updated over the years, and now offers a wide range of services, from snow and ice experiences to restaurants, accommodations, conferences, and saunas. SnowExperience365, an ice sculpture exhibition hall within the Snow Castle, allows you to enter a winter wonderland any day of the year. You can walk on the snow and admire the beautiful ice sculptures. The theme of the ice sculptures changes from time to time, and the current theme is a fairytale castle. SnowExperience365 also includes ice sculptures, ice slides, an ice bar, and ice tables.
The Snow Castle Winter Park is a snow park open only in the early winter months (weather permitting). Made entirely of ice and snow, the park offers traditional Finnish snow activities. It includes an ice tube slide, another toboggan run, a snow maze, a traditional Finnish carousel sleigh ride, and an indoor area with several ice sculptures.
Polar Explorer icebreaker
Built in 1976, the Polar Explorer Icebreaker is considered one of Lapland's finest icebreakers. At 78 meters long and 14 meters wide, it can currently accommodate 199 passengers. The Polar Explorer Icebreaker offers a three-hour cruise through the frozen waters of Lapland's Gulf of Bothnia. During these three hours, you'll witness the vessel's immense icebreaking capabilities, taking a guided tour from the engine room to the captain's wheelhouse. An audio guide app is available in 16 languages, including an 11-minute film on the icebreaker, showcasing icebreakers from around the world. Relax in the comfortable lounge, enjoy a warm juice, or stroll on the frozen sea ice during stops. The icebreaker creates an ice-free swimming pool, allowing passengers to swim in the dark, icy waters wearing a flotation suit.
Chasing the Aurora with Snowshoes
As the sky darkens at the summit, the stars gradually peek out from the sky. Adventurous explorers set out, donning specially crafted snowshoes and trekking through the pitch-black forests of Urho Kekkonen, Finland's second-largest national park, to the highest point east of the town in search of the mysterious northern lights. Along the way, your guide will share stories of the mystical night sky and Lapland. Embrace nature in the dark forest and feel the mysterious power of the polar regions. Please dress warmly and avoid the cold. This is a physical activity that requires endurance and appropriate moisture-wicking, quick-drying clothing, as you will sweat profusely. Warm, specialized boots are also required; sneakers are not permitted. (Over 140cm tall, approximately 2 hours, 50% discount for those under 14 years old.)
Chasing the Northern Lights on a Snowmobile
Ride a snowmobile at night through the snow-covered forest, away from residential areas and light pollution, along the silent snowy slopes, chasing the mysterious aurora borealis. On the slopes, warm yourself by a fire under the stars, then enjoy cookies and hot drinks. Two people drive each snowmobile, and each person can drive for approximately 30 minutes. Professional warm gear is provided: jacket, boots, gloves, Mittens, balaclava, helmet. A driver's license (original, copy, photo, motorcycle, or car) is required, and previous driving experience is recommended. (Those under 13 years old or under 140 cm tall receive a 50% discount on the sled ride, which lasts approximately 3 hours.)
| Santa Claus Village
At Santa Claus Village, the world's most famous and authentic village, you'll have the opportunity to tell Santa your wishes in person, take photos with him, pull his beard, and receive precious videos and photos. Besides Santa's office, you can also pick up souvenirs at the Christmas Post Office and send postcards with the Arctic Circle postmark to friends and family. Finally, you'll receive an official Lapland-certified Arctic Circle Crossing Certificate, a precious souvenir.
King Crab Catch + King Crab Dinner
Travel by snowmobile to a king crab fishing area. Listen to local expert fishermen share their history of king crab, their methods of catching it, and the culture and history of Kirkenes. Then, begin your king crab hunt. Enjoy your freshly caught king crab with a glass of white wine or non-alcoholic beverage, coffee, or tea at the Sami Tent restaurant or Barents Safari Restaurant. Essential gear is provided: jumpsuit, helmet, boots, mittens, and balaclava. (Approximately 3 hours)

Special Tips
- We recommend you pack the following items for your trip:
- Very warm clothes
- Swimwear required for sauna use
- Cash and necessary medical supplies/medicines
- Bank cards, credit cards, etc.
- Pillows, travel pillows, etc. for overnight buses
- High-quality camera for photographing the Northern Lights - Is it cold in the Arctic Circle?
According to feedback we've received from guests, the Arctic Circle feels colder than its theoretical temperature. Due to the high frequency of calm weather, the perceived temperature when people are active is similar to that in Beijing during the same period. - Will it snow in the Arctic Circle?
All of our Arctic Circle tours are at least 250 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. This is because the higher the latitude, the greater the chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis and snow. However, we cannot guarantee weather conditions at the time of your visit. Heavy snow typically arrives in the Arctic Circle in early November. If the snow is not deep enough to prevent certain activities from taking place, we will offer an alternative option or a full refund. - Is there no daylight during the polar night in the Arctic Circle in winter?
In the Arctic Circle, the sun rises around 9-10 AM and sets before 3-4 PM. That's about six hours of daylight, a perfectly normal daytime experience! - Is it guaranteed to see the Northern Lights?
In northernmost Lapland, the Northern Lights can be seen almost every night, provided it's dark and the sky is clear. In the Saariselkä region, the Northern Lights can be seen frequently, though cloud cover may reduce visibility, much like it does on summer nights. On average, the Northern Lights are visible up to 200 nights a year in northernmost Lapland. Therefore, your chances of seeing the lights during a week-long trip to the Arctic Circle are quite high!
