11-Day Sicily & Southern Chinese-speaking guided tour in Italy

Meet in Rome and depart for Pompeii, an ancient city in the Campania region of southwestern Italy, about 20 kilometers from the scenic Bay of Naples. It's a popular summer resort nestled between mountains and the sea.

Afterwards, travel to Naples. Naples is the largest city in southern Italy, a scenic Mediterranean city located at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, a picturesque port city. Visit the old town of Naples, including Castel Nuovo (exterior view), the Basilica of St. Francis of Paul, the Royal Palace of Naples (exterior view), and the Galleria Umberto I, an art gallery named after Italian monarchs. In the evening, take a ferry from Naples to Palermo and spend the night on the cruise ship. (Cruise departure estimated at 20:00, approximately 10 hours)

1. Cruise booking requires accurate guest names, genders, dates of birth, and passport numbers. Please ensure this information is accurate when registering; otherwise, booking will be impossible.
2. Single cabins are selected throughout the trip, excluding cabin accommodation. Cabins are by default four-person inside cabins; however, there is a possibility of roommates sharing. Upgrades will incur additional charges; see optional excursions for pricing. If the number of passengers for an upgrade is insufficient, the price difference will apply.
3. This itinerary includes two days of cruise travel to and from Sicily. Cruise travel differs from land-based tourism and is affected by many factors such as weather, sea conditions, military control, diplomatic events, strikes, or ship malfunctions. If the cruise ship is cancelled, we will adjust the route, traveling from the town of San Giovanni in southern Italy to Messina to embark on or depart from Sicily.

In the morning, visit Palermo, the capital of Sicily, a historic city with 2,800 years of history, and the essence of Sicily. Visit the "Fountain of Shame" – the Pretoria Fountain, and the elegant, neoclassical Palermo Opera House. Afterwards, visit the Norman Palace, said to be the oldest surviving royal palace in Europe. After lunch, travel to Agrigento, a popular tourist destination in Sicily. Visit the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the ancient Greek temple complexes. Then, view the Turkish Steps from the outside. Overnight in Agrigento or its surrounding area.

After gathering in the morning, head to 【Syracuse Old Town】. This was once one of the most prominent cities in the Mediterranean, a living fossil of the changing Mediterranean civilization, and a place where ancient Greek and Roman civilizations converged and clashed. This city is also the hometown of the ancient Greek scientist and philosopher Archimedes. Visit 【Dionysius' Ear】, 【Syracuse Cathedral】, and 【Temple of Apollo】. After the tour, spend the night at a hotel near Syracuse.

In the morning, we will meet and head to Catania for sightseeing, including the Cathedral Square, St. Agatha's Cathedral, and the Elephant Fountain. After lunch, we will drive to Taormina, a scenic city with stunning views: the vast blue Ionian Sea on one side and the magnificent Mount Etna on the other. We will visit the 9th of April Square and the Greek Amphitheatre. Overnight in Taormina or a nearby hotel.

After breakfast, depart from the hotel to the summit of Europe's famous active volcano, 【Mount Etna】 (optional tour). We will admire the magnificent beauty of Mount Etna and the surroundings of the crater from a safe distance. Afterwards, we will head to the hotel to rest and check into a hotel in Taormina or nearby.

In the morning, depart for Cefalù, a charming seaside town in northern Sicily. Compared to Palermo, Cefalù is more delicate, maintaining its historically sculpted appearance. Arrive at the Beach of Angels (Cefalù Beach). Finally, arrive at the Port of Palermo, where you'll spend the night on a cruise ship bound for Naples.

Departing from the southern pier of Naples, we will dock in 【Sorrento】, renowned for its citrus groves, panoramic sea views, and quaint, pastel-colored buildings perched on cliffs. Afterward, enjoy free time at Sarni San Nicola est before heading to Caserta to visit the magnificent 【Royal Palace of Caserta】, a testament to the Bourbon dynasty's glorious history and opulent royal heritage. In the evening, check into a hotel in or around Naples.

Important Notes:

This is a combined tour. Guests on this itinerary will need to wait at Sarni San Nicola est (during free time) for the South Italy group to join. The order of attraction visits may be adjusted based on actual circumstances, which might result in duplicated visits to attractions in Naples. If this is a concern, you may choose to have free time instead.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit Positano. Take a stroll through the picturesque [Positano Town], nestled by the mountains and the sea, with its beautiful scenery. From afar, admire the natural beauty and rich cultural history of Sorrento. Facing the gentle breeze of the Tyrrhenian Sea, you will appreciate the [Amalfi Coast], a stunning coastline connecting Positano and Salerno. With its magnificent mountain and sea vistas, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful coastlines in the Mediterranean. Afterwards, take a [boat ride] (optional activity) to [Amalfi Town], where you can explore unique medieval architecture and wander through the quaint streets to experience the town's distinctive charm (*Due to insufficient road system capacity and the conversion of lanes to one-way, Amalfi Town cannot be revisited by road and can only be accessed by boat). In the evening, check into a hotel in Matera or its surrounding area.

After breakfast at the hotel, tour the historic city of Matera, visiting the Romanesque Matera Cathedral and the unique Saminsi houses and cave dwellings. Then, visit the port city of Bari, followed by a trip to Alberobello, a town known as "Paradise Town" for its Chuli architecture. Stroll along Alberobello's charming cobblestone streets, experiencing the rustic charm of a small Italian town while admiring the art created by the wisdom of the ancients. Overnight in Ostuni or its surrounding area.

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the seaside white town of Ostuni, where layers of white houses line the waterfront, allowing you to experience the rich Mediterranean atmosphere. The white, in varying shades and textures, tells a story of history and vicissitudes. Afterwards, travel to Lecce, known as the "Florence of the South," to see its Baroque monuments, including the Basilica of Santa Croce and the Lecce Cathedral. Overnight in Potemç or a nearby hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, take a boat to 【Capri Island】, located opposite the Sorrento Peninsula. Visit 【the Blue Grotto】 (arranged according to weather conditions; cancelled if weather is bad). This small island is an epitome of Mediterranean charm, with its azure waters, lush vegetation, exquisite resort cottages and gardens, and ancient Roman ruins, making it one of Italy's most popular holiday destinations. Return to Naples by boat and visit downtown Naples, including 【the Church of San Francesco di Paola】,【Castel Nuovo】 (exterior) and 【Galleria Umberto I】, and 【the Royal Palace of Naples】. Return to Rome Tiburtina train station, ending the trip.

Note:

To witness the 【Blue Grotto】's divine blue, one needs luck. Due to rough waves in winter, the entrance to the Blue Grotto is often submerged, and the sunlight refraction effect is weaker in winter, making the grotto very dark. In summer, the chance of entering the grotto is generally only fifty percent, only possible when the sea is calm. To visit the Blue Grotto, you must first take a medium-sized boat and then transfer to a small boat. Only one small boat can enter the grotto at a time, and the time to see the strange blue light is limited each day. During peak season, there are often queues, and the viewing time for each boat is only a few minutes.
