This route focuses on the once glorious Roman Britain and Hadrian's Wall. Let us take you through the heart of the Scottish Borders and its 2,000 years of history, back to the last desolate border of the once powerful Roman Empire, and feel the changes of history. This route is perfect for tourists who want to experience the desolation of this ancient Roman outpost and enjoy the mountains and border scenery of southern Scotland.
Itinerary
The first stop on this tour is the border town of Jedburgh, a historic fort dominated by the magnificent 12th-century Augustinian Abbey.
Once you reach Jedburgh, you may have time to walk a few steps through its narrow streets and visit this impressive ruin. You will enjoy a leisurely stroll along the ancient Roman Street of Dere, which connected the supply port of southern England to modern Scotland.
Continuing south, we stop at the scenic Carter Bar on the edge of the Cheviot Hills. This border crossing between Scotland and England is close to an old Roman road and has formed the border between the two countries for the past 700 years.
Continue on through the stunning forests of Northumberland National Park before turning west to Hadrian's Wall.
We follow the road to the south side of the wall and stop at Steel Rigg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You have time to walk alongside the wall and experience the loneliness that the Roman infantry went through while defending the empire from the "barbarians" from the north.
You will continue along the Wall and your guide will recommend the best sights to see. You will have time to explore a section of the Wall or the Roman settlements before you turn north and return to Edinburgh through the Galloway Hills.

Itinerary
