Attraction Introduction
Cambridge
This place is home to Britain's top universities. Whether you're drawn by the pleasant and leisurely boat ride on the River Cam, or searching for traces of Xu Zhimo's poem "Saying Goodbye to Cambridge Again," which begins "Gently I leave, just as gently I came," this is a must-see destination.
York
Rich in the history and stories of the Roman Empire and the Vikings, it is also the inspiration for the Shambles Street in Harry Potter.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a historic city with many well-preserved historical sites, including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, and St. Giles' Cathedral. Edinburgh currently has six sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and what makes Scots particularly proud is that both the Old Town and the New Town are included.
Windermere Lake District
Windermere is the entrance to the Lake District, and Lake Windermere is the largest lake in the district. Known as "the most beautiful scenery in the Midlands," the Lake District is the home of the famous fairy tale Peter Rabbit and one of the filming locations for "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." The lake over which Harry flies by on his hippogriff was filmed in the Lake District.
Manchester
Home to the world's oldest surviving passenger railway station and arguably the birthplace of socialism and the Industrial Revolution, Manchester remains a pioneer in British cultural and technological innovation, retaining its own unique character and atmosphere. This vibrancy is amplified by the city's two world-renowned football clubs and its large student population; steel mills have been transformed into Michelin-starred restaurants, and warehouses into world-class shopping centers and museums, yet it remains a city that takes immense pride in its industrial history and its influence on music and sport.
Stratford (Shakespeare Town)
This is the birthplace of the famous British playwright William Shakespeare. This picturesque town sits on the banks of the River Avon, in the beautiful and idyllic countryside of Warwickshire.
Stonehenge
Stonehenge, also known as the Salisbury Stone Circle, the Stone Ring, the Temple of the Sun, the Prehistoric Stone Table, the Stonehenge Stone Circle, and the Stonehenge Stone Circle, is a famous prehistoric cultural temple site in Europe. Located on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, it was built around 4000-2000 BC (in March and April 2008, British archaeologists discovered that the more accurate construction date of Stonehenge was around 2300 BC). Some majestic megaliths stand in a ring in the green wilderness, which is the most famous and mysterious prehistoric site in the British Isles.
