Itinerary
D1: London ‣ Leeds Castle ‣ Canterbury ‣ London
Meet up at the hotel, then meet up with all the group members at Golders Green Station in central London, and then head to Leeds Castle, which is known as the "loveliest castle in the world", for a tour, where you can enjoy a light meal. In the afternoon, go to Canterbury, the "oil painting town", which is one of the oldest towns in the UK and the birthplace of the Roman Catholic Church in the UK. It has the best medieval architecture in England. After the tour, return to the hotel to rest.
Note: Leeds Castle will be closed on Christmas Day (December 25th); Canterbury Cathedral will not be open to the public on December 15th, 18th and 25th, and the itinerary will be changed to the exterior.
【Leeds Castle】 — With a history of more than 1,000 years, 6 queens have served as hostesses, so people like to call it "Lady's Castle" or "Queen's Castle". Leeds Castle has become small and cute, with a strong feminine atmosphere everywhere. The castle perched around the lake is more delicate and smart, especially in sunny weather, it looks more elegant and moving. This kind of comfortable beauty, natural atmosphere, and tranquility are fully displayed, and the noise and busyness in the city just form a sharp contrast with this place.
【Canterbury Cathedral】 — In 597 AD, missionary Augustine was commissioned by the Pope to preach in Britain from Rome. It is one of the ten most desirable churches in the world, also known as "the House of God" and "the Gate of Heaven". It is the oldest church site in the UK and the only British church listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site besides Westminster Abbey in London. Unlike Westminster Abbey, which always has a high-end and majestic royal style, Canterbury Cathedral has experienced vicissitudes and is full of suffering and has a strong religious imprint.
【Westgate Gardens】 — A new internet celebrity check-in spot, originally a private residential garden of a famous Canterbury family, the history of the location can be traced back to the ancient Roman period 2,000 years ago. Now it has become a famous local public leisure garden. The clear river flows slowly through the center of the town, reflecting the fairy-tale houses on one side, which has become the most beautiful scenery of the town, so it is named "Oil Painting Town".
D2: London ‣ Cambridge ‣ Oxford ‣ British town
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel at 8 am, we will set out for today's tour of two top British universities. We will first go to Cambridge, arriving at around 9 am, and visit King's College, Trinity College, Cambridge Punting, Xu Zhimo Poetry Monument, Bridge of Sighs, Mathematical Bridge, etc., to deeply feel the strong campus atmosphere and leisurely stroll through the streets.
In the afternoon, we will visit another century-old university city, [Oxford], and visit the colleges in the Oxford University area, [Christ Church College]. Fans of the Harry Potter series of movies will recognize this college from many famous scenes, including the college hall that serves as the background of Hogwarts. Your guide will take you on a walking tour in this ancient university city, where you will see the amazing [Bodleian Library], as well as narrow alleys, ancient squares, towering spires, and more.
After this fulfilling day, we returned to the hotel in England Town to rest.
Note: King's College, Cambridge will not be open to the public on December 5-9 and 20-27; Christ's College, Oxford will not be open to the public on December 24-25, and will close early on special dates. For details, please refer to the signboard of the scenic spot on that day.
【King's College】 — The most famous attraction in Cambridge, it was founded in 1441 by the then King Henry VI of England, hence the name "King" College. A bronze statue of Henry VI is also erected in the courtyard of the college. The Gothic style of King's College is quite spectacular. The King's College Chapel is the landmark building of the entire college. It was designed by the king himself and took nearly 100 years to build. It is now a landmark building that Cambridge is proud of. The most beautiful view is on the lawn outside the chapel.
【Christ Church】 — The first Harry Potter film was filmed in the college hall, which is also the filming location for Harry Potter's Hogwarts School and the dining hall. Christ Church College in Oxford is one of the largest colleges at the University of Oxford in the UK, and the only college in the world that is also a cathedral. Christ Church College has deep roots in British politics. It served as the temporary capital of Charles I during the Civil War and produced 16 British prime ministers in the past 200 years.
D3: British town ‣ Bath ‣ Windsor Castle ‣ London
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel at 8 am, we set off for the ancient Roman town [Bath] (tour time about 3 hours), visiting Bath Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Royal Crescent, Putney Bridge, etc. The town is not large in area, but it has the most noble streets and the most beautiful buildings in the UK. It is now listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Walking in the town, you can still capture the shadows left by the Roman era from the buildings.
In the afternoon, we will go to another ancient city, Windsor. As the hometown of the British monarchy for more than 900 years, the most important thing you cannot miss is of course the oldest and largest continuously inhabited castle in the world - Windsor Castle. Many places in the town still retain the British medieval style. Tourists can visit Windsor Castle, or take a leisurely walk in the town and enjoy the traditional British afternoon tea.
Note: The Roman Baths in Bath will be closed on December 25-26; Windsor Castle will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, December 23 and 25, Christmas Day, January 11-15, and March 9.
【Bath】 — This city has been inhabited for about 2,000 years. In 1987, the entire city was listed as a World Heritage Site. It is famous for its Georgian architecture, ancient Roman spas, and Bath Cathedral. It is a tourist destination in the UK second only to London in terms of the number of tourists. Bath is also known as the most romantic city in England. The famous British writer Jane Austen wrote the world-famous novel "Pride and Prejudice" here. This is a charming city that is well worth exploring.
【Windsor Castle】 — With over 900 years of royal history, Windsor Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world today and the official residence of the current King Charles III of the United Kingdom. The luxurious state apartments, grand reception halls and St. George's Royal Chapel here are not to be missed. In addition to being the resting place of many kings and queens, the chapel was also the venue for the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. Visitors can get a glimpse into the history of the British royal family and the majestic architecture that mixes classical and modern elements.
