Route Overview
Bristol ‣ Oxford ‣ Cotswolds: Burford ‣ Bibury ‣ Bristol
When you think of the Cotswolds, you might think of cobbled streets, honey-soaked stone cottages, or maybe your grandfather's pub with more wrinkles and stories, but did you know that the Cotswolds were once the site of two English Civil War battles? Don't let the ivy-covered walls fool you! Sometimes the most beautiful things are also the most dangerous...
Then there is Oxford, the city of students, spires and ornate cathedrals. It is both inspiring and fascinating. We look up at the skyline filled with spires and find centuries of stories beneath.
Join this tour and experience one of two of England's most famous locations!
Itinerary
Specific routes
Your journey will take you into a dreamland as you leave Bristol. The North Wessex Hills are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a treasure to the country. Just take in the sights and sounds as you drive past meadows and valleys. Your first stop is Oxford, where you have time to explore the courtyards of many colleges, climb to a viewpoint to admire the skyline, or admire the collections of art and antiques at the Ashmolean Museum. Spires reach up to the sky as you wander the elegant halls straight out of Harry Potter.
Next you'll stop in Burford, known as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds'...some say it's better than entering Narnia through a wardrobe. Trust us, this town is full of character and depth. The main street is lined with those quaint properties you've only dreamed of owning. You'll have time to soak up the local charm and hospitality; if you're feeling peckish, you can try a traditional English 'afternoon tea'.

Next, you'll make a short trip to Bibury. You may want to take some time to take it all in. This place was described by William Morris as the prettiest village in England, and Henry Ford wanted to demolish it and ship it back to America. Here you have time to stroll down to the famous fairytale Arlington Street. If you stroll along the River Colne, be sure to wave to the trout swimming by.

After a full day exploring the city of Oxford and the villages of the Cotswolds, you'll return to Bristol in comfortable transportation.
