Manchester, Mancunium and Mancunian can be easily distinguished~
The name Manchester is derived from the Latin word Mamucium or its variant Mancunio . Mamm means "breast " in Latin and refers to " a breast-like hill " ; or mother, referring to the local river goddess. The suffix -chester is the Old English ceaster meaning Roman fortification, itself derived from the Latin loanword ancient Roman barracks, " fortress ; fortress city " ). Today, there are many city names with similar meanings, such as Chester , Winchester , etc., which were military fortresses in the ancient Roman era.

Mancunium is an ancient Roman-era fortress built in AD 79. It took a total of 121 years to build the entire fortress and is located near two main Roman roads.

It is now located in Castlefield City Heritage Park, in the southwest corner of Manchester City. The original fortress was very majestic, and the towering walls could be seen 1/4 mile away from the fortress. It was once known as the "Giant's Castle". At the same time, several large-scale civilian settlements were developed and built outside the fortress.
Until the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century, during the period of rapid development and expansion of Manchester, most of the fortresses were moved to the ground and roads were built for new development, including the Rochdale Canal and the Northern Railway.

The first railway station in human history was also built nearby in 1830 .

Because the ruins were severely damaged, there are only 160 meters by 130 meters of ruins left today. It is jokingly called "the most boring Roman wall in Britain" by historians.
What does Mancunian mean? It refers to all local things related to Manchester, and also specifically refers to the locals of Manchester City. The people of Manchester are famous for their friendliness and enthusiasm. They always greet each other with "Darling", "Love", "Pal" or " mate " when they meet.
