1. What is the booking process?
After you submit your order online, pay the tour fee, and provide your full personal details, we will follow up with a secondary confirmation. This tour requires a minimum of 6 people; we recommend purchasing international or domestic flights to Tromsø only after receiving formal confirmation that the tour has met its minimum group size. We will send out departure notifications and assembly information before your trip begins.
2. Is this tour guaranteed to depart?
This tour requires 6 people to confirm and is capped at 15 people. All tour dates and slots are subject to secondary confirmation. We announce whether a tour is confirmed approximately 66 days to 30 days before departure. We recommend against purchasing non-refundable flights or other transportation until the tour is officially confirmed.
3. What personal information is required for booking?
Please provide your full name as it appears on your passport, gender, nationality, date of birth, passport details, and a valid European mobile number and email address. Please ensure all information is accurate to avoid any issues with accommodation, activity bookings, or tour arrangements.
4. How is the tour fee calculated for solo travelers?
Solo travelers must pay a single supplement for the entire duration. This tour does not offer a room-sharing service, primarily because some hotels in Lofoten only provide double beds, which are not suitable for sharing between strangers.
5. Where does the tour begin? The tour starts on Day 1 in Tromsø. Upon arrival at Tromsø Airport (TOS), the tour fee includes an airport express bus ticket to the city center, along with relevant boarding instructions. Private airport transfers are not included in the base tour fee.
6. Is there a Chinese-speaking guide to meet me at the airport on Day 1?
No. Day 1 is primarily for independent arrival and check-in, and does not include a Chinese-speaking guide for airport pickup. Guests should use the provided airport express bus ticket and instructions to reach their hotel in Tromsø city center on their own.
7. Is a Chinese-speaking guide available throughout the entire tour?
No. Days 1-2 are for independent activities in Tromsø and do not include Chinese-speaking guide services or local transportation. Days 3-6 include a Chinese-speaking guide, local transport, and a driver.
8. Where does the tour end?
On Day 6, you may choose your preferred drop-off location based on your onward travel plans: Evenes Airport (EVE): approx. 11:00; Tromsø city center: approx. 17:00; Tromsø Airport (TOS): approx. 17:30. These times are estimates based on normal weather and road conditions; please avoid booking tight flight connections.
9. Is this tour suitable for first-time visitors to Northern Norway?
Yes. This itinerary connects Tromsø, Senja Island, and the Lofoten Islands, featuring auroras, fjords, snowy mountains, coastal roads, and classic fishing villages, making it ideal for those wishing to experience Northern Norway's winter scenery in depth for the first time.
10. What is the group size?
This tour requires a minimum of 6 people and can hold a maximum of 15, categorized as a boutique Chinese-speaking small group in Northern Norway. The specific vehicle used will be arranged according to the final number of participants.
11. What is the accommodation arrangement?
The tour includes 5 nights of accommodation: the first 2 nights at a 4-star hotel in Tromsø city center, the 3rd night at a 4-star hotel in the Harstad area, and the 4th and 5th nights in a 5-star boutique hotel landscape suite in Henningsvær.
12. Can twin beds be arranged at the Henningsvær hotel?
No. The landscape suites for the two nights in Henningsvær only offer double beds and no twin bed options. Two guests booking together signify that they understand and accept sharing one large double bed for this portion of the stay.
13. Can I request specific bed types (double or twin) at other hotels?
You may request your bed preference when booking, and we will note this to the hotel and coordinate as much as possible. However, the final bed configuration is subject to the hotel's actual availability and cannot be guaranteed.
14. How are child prices calculated?
The child age standard is 3-12 years old. For two adults traveling with one child, the child receives a 10% discount regardless of whether they occupy a bed. If one adult travels with one child, the child is charged at the adult rate.
15. What meals are included in the tour?
The tour fee includes 5 hotel breakfasts. All lunches and dinners throughout the tour are at your own expense; your guide will provide dining recommendations based on the daily route and stops.
16. What can I do during the free activity day in Tromsø?
Day 2 is a free activity day in Tromsø. You can choose to pay for optional activities such as winter fjord whale watching, bus aurora chasing, fjord cruises and sea fishing, arctic fjord cruises, or the Fjellheisen cable car, or explore Tromsø city center on your own.
17. Is whale watching included in the tour fee?
No. Winter fjord whale watching in Tromsø is a self-funded activity and is subject to seasonality, weather, and operator schedules. Availability is limited, so we recommend booking as early as possible after your tour dates are confirmed.
18. Is whale watching guaranteed?
No. Whales are wild animals, and the ability to spot them is subject to factors such as season, migration patterns, weather, and sea conditions. Activity providers will do their best to locate pods, but sightings cannot be guaranteed.
19. Does the itinerary include aurora chasing?
It includes one roughly 2-hour bus aurora chasing experience in Lofoten. In principle, this is prioritized for the 4th night; if weather, road, or safety conditions are unfavorable, it will be postponed to the 5th night if conditions are better.
20. Will there be aurora chasing on both the 4th and 5th nights?
No. We will arrange one aurora chasing session on either the 4th or 5th night based on weather and aurora conditions; we do not arrange one for both nights.
21. Are the Northern Lights guaranteed?
No. The aurora is a natural phenomenon subject to weather, cloud cover, and solar activity. While Northern Norway is located within the auroral zone, giving you a chance to see them during your trip, appearances cannot be guaranteed.
22. Which parts of Senja Island will we visit?
The plan for Senja Island includes visiting Husøy, Ersfjordstranda, the Tungeneset "Devil's Jaw" viewpoint, and the Bergsbotn fjord viewpoint. Actual stop locations and sequences may be adjusted based on winter weather, road conditions, and safety.
23. What classic sights in the Lofoten Islands will we visit?
Key locations include Svolvær, Henningsvær, Ramberg white sand beach, Hamnøy fishing village, the yellow houses of Sakrisøy, and Reine. If weather and road conditions permit, we will continue to Å, the terminus of the E10 highway.
24. Can I decide on self-funded activities once I arrive?
It is not recommended. Winter is the peak travel season in Northern Norway, and popular activities like whale watching, fjord cruises, aurora chasing, and cable cars have limited inventory. During high-demand periods such as Christmas and New Year, they are even more likely to sell out. We recommend booking as early as possible once your tour dates are confirmed.
25. What is the latest I can book self-funded activities?
In principle, reservations for self-funded activities close 14 days before the tour begins. Success in booking is still subject to secondary confirmation based on real-time supplier availability.
26. Are there any luggage restrictions?
For Days 3-6, luggage on the vehicle is generally limited to 1 piece of standard-sized luggage (30 inches or smaller) per person, plus 1 small backpack or handbag. Please declare any oversized or special luggage in advance when booking.
27. Will winter weather in Northern Norway affect the itinerary?
Yes. Senja Island and the Lofoten Islands can experience strong winds, snowstorms, icy roads, road closures, and low visibility during winter. Your guide may flexibly adjust the order of sights, time spent at locations, or make alternative arrangements based on weather, road conditions, daylight hours, and safety.
28. If the weather is bad, will sights be canceled?
It is possible. In the event of severe weather, road closures, or safety risks, some sights may be modified, stops shortened, or routes changed. The itinerary will prioritize passenger safety and primary transport connections.
29. Can I catch a flight immediately after the tour ends on Day 6?
You may choose a suitable flight based on the drop-off location, but booking very tight connections is not recommended. Winter in Northern Norway can cause delays due to snowfall, strong winds, ice, or traffic control, so we recommend allowing at least 3 hours for transfers.
30. Is this tour suitable for children and seniors?
This tour involves long periods in the vehicle, low winter temperatures, and numerous outdoor activities. We recommend that children, seniors, and guests with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, or those with mobility issues, carefully assess their physical condition before booking and consult a doctor prior to departure.
31. What winter clothing should I prepare?
We recommend thick down jackets, windproof and waterproof coats, thermal underwear, slip-resistant winter boots, hats, scarves, gloves, thick socks, and heat patches. Winds along the coast in Northern Norway during winter are strong, and the "feels-like" temperature may be significantly lower than the actual temperature.
32. Do hotels provide toiletries and slippers?
Amenities provided by hotels may vary. We suggest bringing your own toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, and personal toiletries to avoid any inconvenience.
33. Can the travel agency purchase individual travel insurance for me?
We cannot purchase travel insurance on your behalf. We recommend that you purchase your own travel insurance in your country of residence that covers Norway, winter weather risks, flight delays, and relevant outdoor activities.
34. Are there any mandatory shopping stops on this tour?
No. There are no mandatory shopping arrangements. Souvenir shopping and self-funded activities are entirely voluntary and based on personal interest and budget.
35. Can I leave the tour early?
If you need to leave the tour early, please confirm with customer service before booking. Abandoning parts of the itinerary, accommodation, transport, or activities is generally non-refundable, and you are responsible for any costs incurred after leaving the tour.
36. Why is it recommended to wait for tour confirmation before buying flight tickets?
Because this tour requires a minimum of 6 people and involves a secondary confirmation process. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we may negotiate a date change or cancellation with guests, so we recommend purchasing international or domestic flight tickets only after receiving formal confirmation of the tour.
