Attraction Introduction

Named for its resemblance to a church pulpit, Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) is a naturally formed, massive rock platform located in the middle of Lysefjord. The platform stands 604 meters vertically above the fjord below and juts out over 30 meters from the connecting ridge, rising abruptly from the majestic mountains deep within the fjord. It is a spectacular and awe-inspiring sight. CNN's travel website ranked Pulpit Rock as the top of the 50 most magnificent natural wonders in the world. It is also one of the best places to overlook Lysefjord and appreciate its beauty.
