Westminster Abbey, originally known as the Collegiate Church of St Peter at Westminster, is one of London's most famous buildings. It is located in Parliament Square, adjacent to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. This large Gothic abbey church is the traditional coronation site and resting place of 17 British monarchs and 8 former prime ministers. It is also where William and Kate married in 2011.

Westminster Abbey offers daily religious services for all and, with over a thousand years of history, is a World Heritage Site. Whether for its magnificent architectural style or its important historical status, Westminster Abbey is an indispensable part of London.

Opening Hours:

Monday to Friday: 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM (last entry)

Saturday: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (last entry)

*The Abbey will close one hour after the last entry time.

*Exhibition halls will open 30 minutes after the official opening time.

3. Complete payment

4. Obtain group e-tickets

After successful payment, an e-ticket will be sent to your email address within one business day. You can use this ticket to enter directly or exchange it for a physical ticket at the attraction entrance (see e-ticket instructions).

Coronation Chair

Created in 1296 for Edward I, the Chair has been the seat for the coronation of every monarch since 1308, including Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. It is the oldest piece of furniture in the United Kingdom still used for its original purpose.

Poet's Corner

Westminster Abbey's Poets' Corner is named for the many poets and writers buried there, including Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling, and Thomas Hardy, as well as many commemorative stones and busts dedicated to Shakespeare and a great love of Scottish poet Robert Burns.

  • Multimedia guides are included in the ticket price.
  • Exception: On Wednesdays between 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm, the Abbey operates as a place of worship and the multimedia guide is not available.
  • During peak times there are queues at the ticket office, irrespective of your booked timeslot.
  • E-tickets are accepted.
  • Westminster Abbey is a working church and may be subject to occasional closures for special services and events.
