4. Traveller Information and Important Notes

  • Unless otherwise notified, the vehicle will depart from the meeting point approximately 10 minutes after the scheduled meeting time. All travellers are kindly requested to arrive at the meeting point in advance. If a traveller misses the tour vehicle due to late arrival, any resulting loss or subsequent arrangements shall be the traveller’s own responsibility.
  • In the event of force majeure or other objective special circumstances, including but not limited to fire, war, strikes, severe weather or similar situations, the company reserves the right to cancel or adjust the itinerary according to actual conditions. If any additional costs arise as a result, including but not limited to accommodation, meals or transportation, the company reserves the right to charge travellers the relevant price difference.
  • Travellers are requested to pay attention to personal safety and must fasten their seat belts after boarding the vehicle. Travellers are also expected to help maintain a clean, comfortable environment inside the vehicle. Please take all valuables and personal belongings with you when leaving the vehicle. The traveller shall be responsible for any loss of personal belongings.
  • Most accommodations in the UK and Europe encourage environmental protection. Travellers are advised to bring their own personal items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and slippers. Rooms are generally equipped with a kettle, and bathrooms usually provide basic soap or shower amenities. If travellers have preferred toiletries, it is recommended that they bring their own. Some rooms may be equipped with a hairdryer; if not available in the room, travellers may ask the host or accommodation provider to borrow one. Kitchens at the accommodation are not open for guest use, and facilities such as microwaves and refrigerators may not be used without permission. Thank you for your understanding.

If any items in the room are damaged, the traveller will be responsible for the relevant compensation and should inform the guide promptly. The guide will assist in communicating with the accommodation provider.
  • Travellers are responsible for looking after their own personal belongings. Valuables should be kept with them at all times. The company shall not be liable for any loss of personal property.
  • Small group tours do not have fixed seat assignments. Travellers who are prone to motion sickness are advised to prepare motion sickness medication in advance. The front-row seat offers a better view, but the space near the driver is relatively limited, making it more suitable for travellers who are prone to motion sickness or wish to take photos along the way. The second and third rows are relatively more spacious. If travellers have special seating needs or wish to change seats, they may discuss this politely with the guide or other travellers. When the vehicle is fully occupied, travellers are encouraged to rotate seats daily and show consideration for one another to avoid any unpleasantness over seating arrangements.
  • The driver’s daily working time is 10 hours. Under normal circumstances, the itinerary can be completed within the permitted working time. Travellers are kindly requested to follow the guide’s advice and arrange sightseeing time at each attraction reasonably to avoid overtime. If overtime occurs at night due to traveller-related reasons, an overtime fee of £50 per hour will be charged.
  • If the Harry Potter steam train crossing cannot be viewed due to force majeure or other objective reasons, no additional viewing arrangement will be made. Such reasons include but are not limited to train suspension, traffic congestion, traffic accidents, landslides, severe weather or similar circumstances.

1. What is the booking process?

Please confirm availability with our customer service staff before booking. Once you have paid the tour fee online and completed your personal information, we will send you a booking confirmation email within 1–2 business days after verifying availability. Upon receiving the confirmation email, you may proceed to book your transportation to/from the departure city and your hotel accommodation.

2. Is there a minimum number of participants required to form a group?

This tour requires a minimum of 4 people to run; during the summer months (April to September), it requires a minimum of 2 people.

3. What personal information is required for booking?

Please provide the following personal information: Name / Gender / Date of Birth / Nationality / Passport Details / Email Address / Mobile Number.

4. Can the tour guide pick me up from my hotel for departure?

Yes, you may. Please include this in your order remarks after booking, and our customer service staff will confirm the feasibility and any additional costs.

5. What is the size of the tour group?

The maximum capacity is 8 people (excluding the driver), and we typically use a 9-seater passenger van.

6. Will there be guided commentary at the attractions?

The Highlands tour focuses on natural scenery, and the driver-guide will provide basic commentary.

7. Can minors join the tour unaccompanied?

We apologize, but minors must be accompanied by at least one adult to join the tour. We cannot accept bookings for minors traveling alone.

8. Can I join or leave the tour midway?

If you need to join or leave the tour midway, you are still required to pay the full tour fee (with the exception of multi-location hop-on/hop-off tours). Please confirm the feasibility with our customer service staff before booking.

9. How are lunch and dinner handled?

Lunch and dinner are at your own expense. These are usually arranged at attractions, along the route, or at hotels. You may ask the tour guide for recommendations or dining suggestions.

10. Are there any restrictions on luggage?

Each guest may carry one piece of luggage not exceeding 50cm x 40cm x 20cm, plus a small personal bag. Please contact our customer service staff for any special requirements.

11. Am I allowed to smoke in the hotel room or vehicle?

According to UK law, smoking is prohibited in public places, including hotel rooms and vehicles. Please comply with the regulations; smoking is strictly forbidden in hotel rooms or vehicles. Anyone found doing so will be subject to heavy fines or prosecution.

12. Can the travel agency purchase personal travel insurance for me?

Our company is a registered travel agency in the UK and holds both UK travel agency company insurance and commercial vehicle operation insurance. However, we cannot purchase personal travel insurance on your behalf. We strongly recommend that you purchase suitable personal travel insurance in your country of residence before departure and provide correct information to ensure a safe and worry-free trip.

13. Can I use credit cards during the trip?

Most businesses in the UK accept international credit cards. Payment methods such as UnionPay, Alipay, and WeChat Pay are not widely used in the UK. We recommend bringing an international credit card and carrying a small amount of cash in GBP for tips, entrance tickets, or incidental expenses. For your safety, please avoid carrying large amounts of cash.

14. Does this tour have mandatory shopping?

In the UK, mandatory shopping tours are illegal. We provide "pure play" tours without any mandatory shopping arrangements, allowing you to enjoy every moment of your trip.

15. How is accommodation arranged?

We generally arrange accommodation in Highland guesthouses or 3-star standard hotels. Amenities include hot water and Wi-Fi. Room types include doubles with private baths, twins with private baths, and family rooms (one double bed + one single bed) with private baths. For 2-person bookings, we prioritize twin rooms; if unavailable, a double room will be provided. For 3/5/7-person bookings, a family room may be used. If you request a single room, a single supplement fee applies. Solo travelers are welcome, and we will prioritize matching you with a roommate of the same gender; if no match is found, a single supplement will be required. Please understand that traditional Highland accommodation often involves older buildings with dated facilities, smaller rooms, and smaller beds (double beds are 1.3–1.4m wide; single beds are 0.8–0.9m wide). Please do not expect the standards of large international hotel chains. However, they are clean and hygienic, with linens changed for every guest. If you have any concerns about the bedding, please notify the staff immediately for replacement.

16. How do I use the bathroom facilities in the guesthouses or hotels?

Highland bathroom facilities are often dated. Faucets often have separate hot and cold taps, so please be careful. Shower controls may differ from those in your home country; some switches are located outside the bathroom and must be turned on to activate the main power. You may need to inspect the facilities upon arrival. If you cannot get hot water, consult the staff or your guide. It is recommended to shower early to avoid low water pressure or running out of hot water due to high usage later. Please keep the door or shower curtain closed to prevent water leakage, which could make the carpet damp and lead to potential damage compensation. Always ensure faucets are turned off before leaving or checking out to avoid any losses.

17. Can I use kitchen equipment like microwaves or refrigerators?

Guesthouses are private homes, and while you are welcome to stay, some areas such as the kitchen are generally not open to guests. Please do not use kitchen facilities without permission. We appreciate your mutual respect and understanding.

18. Can I bring my luggage on the vehicle?

Due to limited luggage space on tourist vehicles, please carry small luggage. Additionally, as accommodation locations often lack elevators and rooms are compact, carrying large bags can be inconvenient. We strongly recommend storing large luggage elsewhere. Please keep your luggage size under 26 inches. If you have oversized luggage, you must contact us in advance for approval to avoid boarding delays on the day of departure. The tour guide/driver reserves the right to refuse oversized luggage on the day, and our agency will not be liable for any disputes arising from this.

19. What should I do if there are insects in the summer?

During hot summer days, vegetation around the Glenfinnan Viaduct is lush, and insects (midges) may crawl into clothing. Please be mindful and avoid venturing into dense grass. Wearing long-sleeved shirts and trousers to cover your body is recommended, and you may purchase insect repellent yourself. If you find insects in your room, do not panic; contact the staff to deal with them and keep doors and windows closed to prevent more from entering.

20. Are there discounts for children and the elderly?

Since both children and the elderly occupy seats and beds, they are charged the same price as adults; there are no discounts. UK law requires children under 1.35 meters in height to use a car seat. Please contact customer service when ordering if your child is under 1.35 meters so we can prepare one for you. Please note: This product is not recommended for children under 2 years old. If travelers over 65 are joining the tour, please inform customer service in advance, as they will need to sign a "Disclaimer of Liability."

21. Can I see the Harry Potter steam train?

The Harry Potter steam train generally operates from May to October. We try our best to time our visit to the viaduct with the train's schedule. If service is suspended due to weather, strikes, traffic, safety, or other reasons, we will not arrange an alternative viewing. Thank you for your understanding.

22. Are there places to eat along the way in the Highlands?

There are small towns and service areas along the route in the Highlands with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets. Dining is convenient, and you can pay by card or cash. You can choose from various types of food, especially the excellent local seafood, as well as popular ice cream options.

23. Do I need to prepare tips?

Tipping service staff is a local custom in the UK. For formal dining, pay 5–10% of the bill if service is not already included. If it is, no extra tip is required. Tips are not expected for fast food or our pre-arranged accommodation, but it is always good to have some cash on hand for emergencies.

24. Can the itinerary be changed?

If you choose a shared tour, each vehicle carries up to 8 people, so the itinerary is fixed and cannot be changed. If you choose a private chartered tour, the itinerary is relatively flexible. The routes we provide are for reference only. Within reasonable limits regarding mileage and the driver's working hours, the itinerary can be adjusted; please communicate with our customer service staff in advance.

25. What is the weather like in the Highlands, and how should I dress?

The terrain in the Scottish Highlands is complex, and the climate is changeable. Temperatures are generally low year-round, often with rain and wind. We recommend wearing windproof and warm jackets (a shell jacket is most practical), bringing rain gear, and using sunscreen even in the summer.

26. Is the travel time long?

The Highlands are remote, and the 3-day itinerary is quite packed. Total daily travel time is approximately 5–6 hours. There are attractions every 1–2 hours where you can get off and move around, so the overall experience is not too strenuous. Much of the Highland roads are winding, but they are in good condition with a smooth surface. Please prepare motion sickness medication in advance.

27. Does it get dark early in Scotland during winter?

Due to Scotland's high latitude, daylight hours are short from late October to the following April. Earlier sunsets may affect the viewing of later attractions in the itinerary. As we cannot control natural light, we ask for your understanding.

28. What are mileage overage and overtime fees?

According to local UK service customs and relevant regulations, our guide's maximum daily working time is 10 hours. If this is exceeded, an overtime fee of £50/hour will be charged. Please rest assured that our guides are experienced and will plan the itinerary reasonably to avoid such fees. We kindly ask for your cooperation with the guide during your trip.

29. What is the difference between the Skye In-Depth 3-Day Tour and the Classic 3-Day Tour?

The Skye In-Depth 3-Day Tour includes two light hikes: about 1 hour at Neist Point Lighthouse and about 1 hour at the Old Man of Storr. We hike only to the mid-way viewpoint at the Old Man of Storr and return, as the daily schedule and driving distance are long and time is limited. The Classic 3-Day Tour does not visit Neist Point Lighthouse, and the Old Man of Storr is viewed primarily from a distance. It instead includes visits to Lealt Falls and the Rigg Viewpoint, involving less walking and offering a more relaxed pace.
