18. Does this tour have mandatory shopping?
In the UK and Europe, mandatory shopping tours are illegal. We offer pure play tours with no mandatory shopping arrangements, so you can fully enjoy every moment of your trip.
19. Is this tour suitable for children and seniors?
This itinerary involves long journeys, low-temperature environments, and includes various snow and outdoor activities such as icebreakers, reindeer sledding, husky sledding, and snowmobiling. The overall temperature is low, and the pace of the itinerary is quite rich. It is generally recommended for children with a certain cold tolerance and who can cooperate with the team's schedule. Infants under 4 years old are not recommended to participate in snow activities. If traveling with children, parents should assess their child's physical condition and adaptability in advance. Seniors who are in good health and have good mobility can generally participate. If you have cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, limited mobility, or conditions unsuitable for low-temperature environments, it is recommended to assess carefully before booking and consult a doctor's opinion in advance.
20. Can children participate in snow activities?
Some snow activities have height, age, or safety requirements for children. For example, ice floe bathing on an icebreaker usually requires reaching a specific height. In snowmobile activities, younger or shorter children usually cannot drive and can only ride on a sleigh according to on-site regulations. Whether they can participate is subject to the safety regulations of the local activity company on the day.
21. Do I need to prepare my own warm clothing for snow activities?
Yes, you do. Apart from certain activities like snowmobiling, King Crab safaris, and icebreaker floe bathing, which provide professional warm gear, other snow activities such as reindeer sledding and husky sledding usually require visitors to prepare or rent their own warm gear. We recommend preparing waterproof and non-slip snow boots, thick down jackets, warm pants, hats, scarves, gloves, and hand warmers. If the guide determines that your clothing is insufficient to ensure safety, they have the right to refuse your participation in snow activities, and related fees are usually non-refundable.
22. Will not participating in optional activities affect the itinerary?
It will not affect the basic itinerary. Optional activities are voluntary. If you choose not to participate, the guide will arrange free time for you at the hotel or in a nearby area based on the actual route. However, due to early sunsets and low temperatures in Nordic winters, it is recommended to prepare meals, warm clothing, and heed the guide's reminders regarding meeting times and safe areas.
23. Am I guaranteed to see the Northern Lights?
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon influenced by various factors such as weather, cloud cover, solar activity, and light pollution, so there is no guarantee of seeing them. This itinerary will pass through active aurora regions and include suitable viewing locations or optional aurora chasing activities, but the final viewing outcome depends on the natural conditions on the day.
24. Can I upgrade to a glass igloo?
You can upgrade to an Arctic Light Resort glass igloo or a polar sky suite at your own expense, subject to availability. Due to very high demand for glass igloos in winter, applications should be made as early as possible, and usually, the room fee needs to be paid first to confirm the booking. If the room cannot be confirmed, a refund will be issued. Once a glass igloo is confirmed, the cancellation terms are strict, so please review them carefully before booking.
25. What warm clothes should I prepare for November-December in Northern Europe?
Iceland is quite different from what many are used to, with a changeable polar climate, especially many storms in winter. When it's windy and rainy in winter, temperatures can drop significantly (to several degrees below zero), so a down jacket is essential. When preparing clothes, prioritize warmth, with windproof and waterproof features being ideal.
Iceland is windy year-round, so wear a hat and scarf to protect your head and neck from the cold. Gloves are also a must.
Sunglasses or glasses can effectively reduce damage to the eyes from snow glare and strong winds.
Clothing recommendations:
- First layer: Lightweight thermal base layer set (long underwear), ski quick-dry clothing is also a good option;
- Second layer: Fleece jacket and lightweight down inner jacket;
- Third layer: Down jacket or soft/hard shell waterproof and windproof jacket or ski suit, all are suitable. Pay attention to layering for easy adjustment, and bright colors will make for better photos.
- Shoes: If possible, prepare outdoor hiking boots (mid- or high-cut) for effective warmth, waterproofing, slip resistance, and ankle protection.
- Swimwear: Swimwear is needed for the Blue Lagoon, and some hotels may have free public hot tubs (similar to small hot springs), so be sure to bring yours.
26. How much cash should I prepare?
You don't need a large amount of cash; 100-200 Euros per person should be sufficient, excluding optional activities. A credit card is essential, as most local shops, restaurants, convenience stores, public transport, and taxis support credit card payments, including public toilets (if you have a credit card, you don't need to carry cash).
