Avignon Unique experience

A must-see on any pilgrimage to the Holy Land is the Papal City and the Pont de San Beneze (the broken bridge). In the 14th century, with the support of the French king, the Papacy moved its capital here, and Avignon naturally became the second papal capital.

In the afternoon, we went to the idyllic place described in Mel's "A Year in Provence".GordesThis city is also known as the Stone City. It is called "the village that hangs high in the sky" and is also known as "the city in the sky" because it looks like it is hanging in the sky. The rocky mountain city was built in the Middle Ages and is constructed of stacked limestone slabs.

After the tour, head toSenank Monastery Abbaye de SénanqueWe stopped briefly at the Lavender Museum along the way. Sénanque Abbey is the birthplace of the Cistercian order of Catholic monasticism, the setting for the book "A Year in Provence," and a landmark attraction in Provence.
