Trip Information

Specific itinerary

D1: ⚑ London ‣ Winchester ‣ Stonehenge ‣ Exeter*

Leaving central London, you'll travel through Wessex, one of England's oldest kingdoms. You'll pass through environments that date back thousands of years on your way to the historic city of Winchester. The former capital of Anglo-Saxon England is synonymous with Alfred the Great and features magnificent cathedrals and Norman halls.

After visiting this bustling ancient city, you will head to a quieter but equally profound place - Stonehenge. The site of Stonehenge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been perfectly preserved. Finally, you will head to Exeter, an important fortification from the Roman period, where you will stay for two nights.

*In rare cases you may be based in Torquay.

D2: Dartmoor National Park ‣ Exeter*

Explore the remote, windswept splendor of Dartmoor National Park, where you can see herds of ponies grazing near granite rocks. Dartmoor is also home to an incredible diversity of flora and fauna, so take in the sights, sounds and smells of the moor's isolated beauty.

You cross the ancient Clapper Bridge at Postbridge and travel to Tavistock, the historic market town and birthplace of Sir Francis Drake. Returning to Exeter in the early afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore the city's ancient buildings, city walls, Norman cathedral, Royal Albert Memorial and quayside at leisure.

*In rare cases you may be based in Torquay.

D3: Launceston ‣ North Cornish Coast ‣ Boscastle Fishing Village ‣ Tintagel ‣ Falmouth

Cornwall, Britain's most westerly county, is where Arthurian legend meets authentic Celtic history. Today you'll explore the 12th-century Norman castle of Launceston, the ancient Cornish capital. You'll head west to the North Cornish coast and the Elizabethan fishing village of Boscastle. Indulge in a cream tea, stroll to the dramatic headland, or learn a spell or two at the Museum of Witchcraft.

You’ll head to the village of Tintagel and the ruins of its headland castle, whose romantic cliff-top setting is said to be the home of King Arthur. After lunch, you’ll head to Port Isaac, where you’ll fall in love with this picturesque fishing village. You’ll then head south to the bustling port town of Falmouth, where you’ll spend the next two nights.

D4: St Michael's Mount ‣ Land's End ‣ St Ives ‣ Falmouth

Today you will explore the most south-western corner of England. You will head to St. Michael's Mount, a famous tidal island. We will then continue to the unique setting of the Minack Theatre, which sits above the rough sea and a beautiful NSFW-protected beach.

You will then visit Land's End, before walking along a landscape dotted with the remains of a Cornish tin mining site, now a filming location for the series Poldark. St Ives is your final stop today, with numerous artists' galleries in a maze beside the narrow harbour. You return to Falmouth for the night.

D5: Glastonbury ‣ London

After breakfast, you’ll say goodbye to Cornwall and cross Bodmin Moor, a wild moorland designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll take a break before continuing to Glastonbury. Here you can visit the remains of a 7th-century monastery, relax over lunch, or take in the stunning views from Glastonbury Tor. Return to London.
