Attraction Introduction

Kaunas Castle, located in Lithuania's second-largest city, Kaunas, is a Gothic defensive castle built in the 14th century, situated at the confluence of two rivers. Characterized by its red brick structure and round towers, the castle is one of the best-preserved medieval military buildings in the Baltic region. Although some areas have been reconstructed, it still retains its historical appearance. The surrounding area features a park and riverside walking paths, creating an open environment that makes it an iconic attraction in the city, blending history with recreation.

How to Get There

You can travel from Vilnius to Kaunas by train or bus, with the journey taking approximately 1–1.5 hours. The castle is located on the edge of the city center and is within walking distance.

Travel Tips

The castle is small, so visits are short. The outdoor area is more comfortable in summer.
